What does it mean?
All systems are interconnected and are subject to environmental and social factors.
It is widely accepted that many of our modern diseases are interconnected and this is often referred as: Unity of Disease.
It also explains that there is one common root cause to disease, that disease is the result of disturbances to each system within the body, and that symptoms manifest in stages.
For example, a skin condition may be the result of gut inflammation (possibly due to food intolerance), and is often the last symptom to appear, the one symptom that you are bound to notice, as previous ones were most probably ignored (e.g. bloating, discomfort, chronic constipation).
Conventional protocols may include suppressing the symptoms and treating the skin condition, masking the outside layer of the disease, while the root cause is not addressed.
In Naturopathic Medicine, the root cause is identified and healing the gut, in this example, is the first place to start. As a result the skin may be the last system to clear; however, during your journey toward recovery, liver function may have improve dramatically, including detoxification processes and , elimination, immune responses are rebalanced, and you can now think much clearer (e.g. reduced brain fog, improved concentration and memory) and feel more energy than you probably never felt before..
Sometimes, symptoms may take decades to appear, and for this reason the proposed protocol may take some time to improve your condition and for symptoms to dissipate. Although, depending on your condition, you may notice immediate changes.
Nutr- stands for Nutrition and Optimum Nutrition. A field I specialise in.
-Unity for unity of disease and is also an abbreviation of the word Community.
Being part of a community is as important as a healthy state of mind. Current research suggests that many of our modern diseases are the result of emotional imbalance, negative inner-conversations, and social isolation.
There is also strength in number. A wider community possesses a louder voice. Faced with the full force of the multi-billion pounds (or dollars) pharmaceutical industry, it is vital that today we stand our ground, that capitalism and greed do not stand at the expense of our health and freedom.
