Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the assessment (Discovery Call)?

It should last no more than 20 minutes. This is a ‘discovery’ call to ensure we are the right fit for you and discuss the way forward, if you are happy to proceed and book our services.

Will I get nutritional advice during the discovery call?

We cannot give any advice or recommendations without a thorough assessment. This will be done during the initial consultation, which may last up to 90 minutes.

Ninety minutes is too long; I would prefer an ‘express’ consultation. Is it possible?

We can offer a 45-minute consultation if you have a specific concern and would like related recommendations and a protocol. It is also the recommended time for discussing test results.

We also offer short consultations as part of some of our packages and memberships (e.g., weight-loss and monthly memberships).

Why is there such a massive discrepancy between clinic rates and practitioners?

This is a fascinating question. Some practitioners charge between £40 and £65 for a consultation, while other clinics charge £1,000, excluding any additional tests or expenses.

So, how can this be explained?

First, location matters. Practitioners or clinics based on Harley Street, for example, have high overhead costs. Rent can range from £500 to £1000 per day. To maximise profits, such places often become factories or increase their fees to cover costs. It, however, doesn’t provide any indication of their practitioner capacities.

Other practitioners may be in small villages, often self-employed, or even in larger towns; however, they aim to help people while growing their practice. They may be qualified or practice in an area with little demand. As a result, they may be much cheaper.

Some well-established clinics may offer two consultations for £110 (one initial and one follow-up). However, the consultation duration is minimal: less than 1 hour for the initial and 30 minutes for the follow-up. They may also recommend a long list of supplements and tests to maximise income via commissions. They may also offer other high-return modalities in their clinics, providing a steady stream of income from all services.

At Nutrunity UK, we offer some of the longest consultations (90 minutes) and only recommend tests and supplements if deficiencies have been identified or suspected, or requested. We only suggest tests if they are essential to your recovery or if you have come to us to have the test done. We also refuse to place a commission on tests. Instead, we put you directly in contact with the laboratory, so they can send you the test kit to your preferred address. Test results will be sent to us and discussed with you during the “mini consultation.” If you feel there is a lot to unpack and want to discuss new symptoms, then we can organise a full follow-up to ease your anxiety.

We believe our fees are fair and adapted to your needs. However, we also provide short consultations to meet any budget. Short consultations are also used to discuss test results specifically, so you don’t overpay by booking a full consultation.

Additionally, you receive free email communications to address any questions you may have.

Every little helps!

What is a nutrition consultation like?

During your initial consultation, a detailed discussion will take place about your personal health, lifestyle, and dietary habits. You may be asked to complete a questionnaire and food diary beforehand. The consultation concludes with a personalised Nutrition Plan tailored to your specific symptoms or goals, along with a Stress Report. You also receive a complimentary cooking book from Exquisite Private Chef.

How many consultations will I need?

The number of sessions required depends on individual goals and health needs. Typically, clients require 3-4 sessions over a few months; however, some may need only one follow-up session, while others prefer ongoing support.

It also depends on your package. Some programmes require sessions every 4 weeks. For example, weight-loss programmes require ongoing support and oversight to ensure a sustainable approach and to swiftly address any “detox” symptoms.

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes, we provide consultations via live feed (e.g., Zoom, Teams, or FaceTime), making access easier and more flexible.

Note that sessions are never recorded.

Will I receive a meal plan?

Nutrition counselling is more than just meal plans. While some clients may want one, the focus is on sustainable lifestyle changes and personalised strategies tailored to your health needs.

If you need proper guidance, we invite you to sign up for The 30-Day Reset. You will receive meal plans, recipes and shopping lists, all included!

Are nutritional supplements recommended?

Supplements may be recommended to support dietary improvements or help achieve faster results, especially if obtaining nutrients from food alone is challenging or compromised. However, at Nutrunity, we believe that supplements should be recommended in cases of obvious deficiencies or when the digestive or immune systems are compromised.

To help you get practitioner supplements you can trust (thorough testing, dosages match the label claims, ingredients are recognised by the body and of the utmost quality), we can send you a basket you can access through practitioner-only platforms. This prevents getting supplements from online platforms that are fake copies of practitioner-grade supplements (unfortunately, Amazon is well-known for this), do not deliver the promises on the label, use poor-quality ingredients sourced from questionable countries, or contain ingredients that are not readily assimilable.

What conditions can nutritional therapy help?

Nutritional therapy can address a range of issues, including digestive problems, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular concerns, allergies, intolerances, weight management, and overall well-being.

It is key to remember that our practitioners are trained to the highest possible level and have expertise in their fields; however, we do not diagnose, we use a naturopathic approach. We don’t treat your condition; we expose root causes and imbalances, and support your body’s innate healing to help you thrive, be healthier and happier.

Is the service confidential?

Yes, all personal information and consultation details are kept confidential, and we never share details with third parties. We have a strict approach to data protection and are registered with the ICO for compliance.

We may discuss a case during mentoring sessions with a qualified practitioner, but personal details are not shared (except for gender or age). All our files are saved with initials and placed under double lock.

The only reason we may need to share your details is for insurance purposes or as required by law.

Do you accept private health insurance or require referrals?

Some nutrition clinics accept private insurance or professional referrals, depending on their location and the healthcare system. However, we do not currently accept health insurance. This is something we are looking to implement as we grow.

What to Expect at Your First Nutrition Clinic Appointment

— Before Your Appointment (Medical Questionnaire and Food Diaries)

We will send you a health questionnaire and ask you to keep a food diary for a few days before your visit. Being honest and detailed about your eating habits helps us tailor recommendations to your needs. The more you answer the questionnaire, the less time is lost during the consultation to answer questions.

— During Your Appointment

  • Comprehensive Assessment:

    • Medical and Nutrition History: You’ll discuss your health history, any medical conditions, medications, supplements, allergies, recent test results, and what has motivated you to seek help.

    • Lifestyle and Food Habits: Topics may include your daily schedule, typical meals, food preferences and dislikes, cooking skills, grocery shopping habits, eating out, hydration, and factors such as sleep, stress, and activity levels.

  • Personal Goal Setting:

Together, we'll clarify your health concerns and specific goals. The clinician may ask what changes you’re comfortable with and jointly set achievable steps to start your nutrition journey.

  • Initial Action Plan:

Our nutritionist will offer initial dietary and lifestyle advice tailored to your conditions and goals. Recommendations are practical and individualised, focusing on realistic, sustainable changes rather than prescriptive meal plans.

You may receive guidance on supplements if needed.

  • Your Questions Answered:

There will be time for you to ask questions, clarify advice, and express concerns or preferences, making sure you understand the next steps.

— After the Appointment

  • Personalised Nutrition Plan:

We will send you a customised action plan after reviewing your screening information, food diary, and assessment notes. It will be divided into a Nutrition Report and a Stress Report, containing recommendations adapted to you.

  • Ongoing Support:

Future appointments will review your progress, tweak goals, and offer deeper coaching or support as needed. Your next session may go into more detail on dietary strategies to manage your specific concerns. We will also discuss what worked, the challenges and any new symptoms, allowing your practitioner to tweak your plan accordingly.

How Detailed Will My Medical and Dietary History Need to Be During the First Visit?

During your first visit to our clinic, you’ll be asked to provide a thorough and honest account of your medical and dietary history. This helps your practitioner create a safe, realistic, and personalised nutrition plan based on your individual needs and goals.

— Medical History – What to Include

Your nutritionist will want details such as:

  • Current and past medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, IBS, high blood pressure, allergies)

  • Ongoing symptoms – including how long you’ve had them, any patterns, and severity

  • Medications and supplements – including herbal remedies, over-the-counter products, and dosages

  • Known allergies or intolerances, whether diagnosed or suspected

  • Recent test results or medical reports (e.g. blood tests, hormone panels)

  • Previous surgeries or significant health events

  • Relevant family medical history (e.g. diabetes, thyroid issues, heart disease)

  • Other healthcare professionals you’re currently seeing

Bringing any recent lab results or medical documents is usually helpful for reference.

— Dietary History – What You’ll Be Asked

A large part of your consultation will involve reviewing your current eating and lifestyle habits, such as:

  • A typical day’s food and drink intake – including portion sizes and meal timings

  • Food diary (if requested before the appointment) showing 2–3 days of meals, snacks, and drinks

  • Your hydration habits – how much water or other beverages you drink daily, including caffeine and fizzy drinks

  • Specific cravings, food aversions, or sensitivities

  • Special diets or preferences – e.g. vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or low-FODMAP

  • Cultural or religious dietary practices

  • Cooking and shopping routines – who prepares meals, where you shop, how often you cook

  • Eating patterns – whether you skip meals, eat late, or snack frequently

  • Recent changes in appetite, digestion, or body weight

Don’t worry if your diet isn’t “perfect” – we are not here to judge. Being open and honest means your practitioner can give the most helpful and realistic advice.

Why This Level of Detail Matters?

  • It ensures your plan is tailored not just to your goals but also to your health, lifestyle, and preferences.

  • It helps identify potential gaps, risks, or triggers related to nutrition.

  • It provides a strong foundation for tracking progress and setting meaningful goals.

We’re not here to judge – we’re here to help you make informed, lasting changes using practical strategies that work for your everyday life.

What If You Can’t Remember Everything?

That’s completely normal! We offer follow-up discussions to build on what was shared during the first visit. Bring along notes, food diaries, medication/supplement lists, or any previous health records if you think they will help.

We also advise that you complete your medical questionnaire and go over it one more time after one or two days. You may need to add more details or be more specific about the dates the symptoms first appeared, whether they were linked to a specific event, and the severity of the symptoms.

It may also help to talk to people who live with you, your parents, or your siblings, as they may remember or notice things you may not.
