Mental Health

Mental health and nutrition

A comprehensive health questionnaire with sections on dietary habits and lifestyle can help us asses where you are, how you got there and where you want to be. We look at all aspects of well-being, including stress and anxiety, as well as nutrition (digestion, assimilation and utilisation of nutrients).

Research has proven the positive effect of nutrition on neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, and it is now recognised that diet and lifestyle may help reverse the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Evidence also shows that Parkinson’s can be better managed with nutrition.

Anxiety disorders

Depending on your family settings and the support you have (or not) received as a young child, you may have developed certain traits and coping mechanisms (or a lack of) — making you who you are. As a result, you may easily feel overwhelmed, stressed or anxious, and interpret the world around you very differently from other people.

It is possible to become more resilient and better react in certain events; however, it is important to recognise the positive impact of a multi-disciplinary approach.

Mental-ill health

Mental ill-health is very complex. It is more than just having cognitive dysfunction. It is an umbrella term for a varied selection of very different conditions, such as:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Eating disorders

  • Personality disorders

  • Obsessive compulsive disorders

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Phobias
